How can I make my mattress more comfortable?

If you're having trouble sleeping at night or waking up in pain in the morning and you're not yet in the mattress replacement phase ( learn when to replace your mattress here ), you may be wondering if there are ways to make it more comfortable. The answer is "YES"! These ways assume that your mattress is in good condition, however, the rest of the conditions and the way of use, do not allow it to perform at 100%. So what can you do in such a case?
  1. Keep your bedroom warm
Memory foam mattresses often become softer and quickly conform to the shape of your body when warm. Try to keep your bedroom warm at night so the memory foam mattress is soft by the time you go to bed. You could also try using a heating blanket to warm the mattress before going to bed.
  1. Flip or rotate the layer
Most modern mattresses are designed with a comfortable topper so they don't need to be turned over. However, if your mattress is old and doesn't have a defined top or bottom, flipping it could give it a new lease of life. It may also be helpful to rotate your mattress on a regular basis to make it more comfortable. This tactic ensures that each end of the mattress wears equally, so the springs don't wear out faster at one end.
  1. Try a mattress topper
A mattress topper can be a great way to make soft mattresses firmer or firm mattresses softer. It is a quilted covering that we place on top of the mattress and is often connected by means of elastic straps at the four corners. They may contain foam, polyester, feathers, down or a combination of these materials. They are a relatively inexpensive way to improve mattress comfort without replacing the entire mattress, and they can help improve the lifespan of a mattress. However, they are not a substitute for a new mattress if your old one is in very poor condition.
  1. Change your pillow
It's easy to blame a mattress for poor sleep quality, but your pillow greatly affects your posture during sleep and therefore your comfort. The right pillow will support your head and neck without causing pressure. It comes down to personal preference whether a very firm or soft pillow is right, so you may need to try a few before deciding. In general, people who sleep on their backs or face feel more comfortable with a thinner pillow. Thicker and more supportive pillows are best for side sleepers who will need their neck and head raised higher for comfortable alignment.
  1. Refresh the bedding
Your bedding can play an important role in sleep. It won't affect the firmness of the mattress itself, but it can make you feel more comfortable and therefore help you sleep better. Consider replacing polyester with 100% cotton if your sheets tend to be itchy. Try using flannel sheets in winter, which are warm and comfortable. Silk sheets are incredibly soft and cool to the touch, making them a delightful choice for warm summer nights. Also make sure your sheets fit the mattress properly. When they are too loose, they can build up and create uncomfortable bumps.
