Celebrating World Sleep Day 2024
As we live our daily lives intensely, trying to meet multiple demands, we often forget the importance of rest and quality sleep. Our deadlines, work commitments and personal ambitions can easily overwhelm us, leaving sleep on the sidelines. But how effective can we be without good sleep? With this year's celebration of World Sleep Day on March 15, 2024, there is no better opportunity to talk about the importance of quality sleep in our lives - an almost "invisible" but powerful asset that we have at our fingertips... without having to we do absolutely nothing!
When was World Sleep Day established?
World Sleep Day was established in 2008 by the World Sleep Society to raise public awareness of the importance of good quality sleep and the impact of sleep disorders on people's lives. Since then, "Sleep Day" has been celebrated every year more as a warning about the need to prioritize sleep and by extension, our health. What World Sleep Day Means
In addition to reminding us to rest, "Sleep Day" is an opportunity to learn and be informed about the consequences of improper sleep on our health. Although the consequences of this neglect are serious, many people completely ignore them, falling into the trap of overestimating their strengths, which in the long run has a disastrous effect on any organization:- Physical Health: Good sleep strengthens the immune system and prevents diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
- Psychological Well-Being: Sleep improves mood, reaction and decision-making ability.
- Productivity and Performance: Good sleep increases productivity and performance at work.
- Better Relationships: Good sleep strengthens relationships and communication with those around us.
- Safety: Good sleep makes us more agile and safe in daily activities, keeping our perception, vision and reflexes in optimal condition.
