Hard or soft mattress: What do I need for better sleep?

Softer mattresses are generally better for side sleepers as they better cushion the shoulders and hips. On the side, a softer mattress also better aligns the spine. Disadvantages of a soft mattress Although they may seem more comfortable and luxurious, a soft mattress can actually cause back problems for those who sleep on their backs or face, as well as those who are overweight. Soft mattresses can also be uncomfortable for those who share a bed with their partner. The heavier partner may sink further, making the sleeping surface uneven. Finding a firm that suits both parties can be difficult. How to choose the right one for you So the three main factors to consider are whether you suffer from back pain in general, what sleeping position you prefer and what your weight is. Another important factor that should not be overlooked is personal preference. Regardless of which one is more specialized for your spinal needs, if the mattress in your test seems uncomfortable, it will be difficult to get a good night's sleep.
